Have access to more than a dozen tulou and explore every nook and cranny of your temporary home. Learn all about rammed earth techniques and visit the near deserted second largest tulou in the world, an anomaly the masses somehow haven’t picked up on. Trail the old way across the tea bush covered hills to a more commercialised tulou cluster and include optional activities such as tea picking (and processing), bamboo shoot harvesting, swimming in remote waterfall or even extend your stay with Xiamen.
A WORD ON ACCOMMODATION
Our Xiamen program includes multiple nights in a 400-year-old tulou, a giant square shaped communal building made from earth and wood. You stay in the three-storey ancestral home of the Zhang family, with basic but tastefully renovated rooms.
